Not That Kind of Guy
by Andie J. Christopher

An office attraction becomes something more when they're off the clock in this delightful romantic comedy by the USA Today bestselling author of Not the Girl You Marry.

State attorney Bridget Nolan is successful in all aspects of her life--except romance. After breaking up with her longtime boyfriend, she's been slow to reenter the dating scene. To be honest, she has more important things to do like putting bad guys behind bars. But with her brother's wedding right around the corner, she suddenly needs a date and fast. Lucky for Bridget, the legal intern is almost done with his program.

Matt Kido is dumbstruck by Bridget--total love at first sight--but there's one problem. She's totally off-limits while she's his boss. But the moment he no longer reports to her, Matt asks her on a date. An impulsive decision takes them to Las Vegas where, as the saying goes, what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.

Unless you put a ring on it.

Rating: ★★★☆☆ (3.5)
As always, a copy of this book was provided by the authors in exchange for my honest review. This does not effect my opinion in any way.

This was such a fun novel! I know that a lot of people didn't necessarily like Not the Girl You Marry, but I adored it and was really looking forward to getting my hands on Andie J. Christopher's latest. If you are looking for a boost during the age of social distancing: Not That Kind of Guy is a must-read. Much like Not the Girl You Marry, Not That Kind of Guy echoes some of the most beloved rom-com tropes of all times in a delightfully fresh and indulgent way.

Although, if I had to pick between the two, Not the Girl You Marry is my favourite. And being able to see characters from Not the Girl You Marry was a definite plus.

If you love the episode of Friends where Ross and Rachel get drunk and married in Las Vegas: you're going to love Not That Kind of GuyNot That Kind of Guy has a variety of similar rom-com vibes all around! Reading Not That Kind of Guy feels exactly like that bubbling joy of entertainment we get whilst watching rom-coms, too. You can practically hear the upbeat score of music as you flip the pages.

Ultimately, Not That Kind of Guy is heavy on the rom-com tropes, but it's what makes the story move along quickly and entertain its readers. Andie J. Christopher mixes all the nostalgia of our favourite classic rom-com tropes and turns them into something of her own making. It makes for an upbeat, breezy, grin-inducing read. While there was plenty of fiery moments via the chemistry between characters, and a lot of angst sprinkled in, this novel was all charm.

Not That Kind of Guy had me chuckling just as often as it had me swooning and cringing. In short? It was entertaining and full of light. What a way to spend these quiet days!
