It's time to get colourful! (If you sang this in your head to the tune of Let's Get Physical: good news! We share the same brain cells!) Ah, this week's prompt was a lot more difficult then I expected! But, I do love a good challenge.
Woo, woo! Still catching up with prompts. Fortunately for me, there was a freebie week this week! And nothing says, "Jessica has good timing for once!" quite like listing a few books that make me smile.
Remember last weekend when we knew peace and didn't have the faintest clue that Taylor Swift was about to drop a folksy inspired record full of some of her best, most atmospheric, story-telling lyrics? Nope, neither do I. The bottom line is folklore is basically the older sister record to Red that longtime fans have been waiting for. AND IT IS SO GOOD. (Also!! If only I had money for the cardigan she's selling. It's so perfect.)
Ah, I've been having a bit of a case of writers block AND laptop issues these last few weeks. It's good to be back. (Although, my laptop is still frustrating me.) You know what that means. Time to play catch up with Top Ten Tuesday prompts! I decided to take on a prompt from a couple of weeks ago instead of discussing book events.

Top Ten Tuesday: Most Anticipated Releases for the Second Half of 2020 (#96)
11:00 PM
So many books, so little time. It's wild to me that 2020 is halfway over. (But also, it's wild to me that 2020 has felt like at least six years crammed into one.)
After reading Ren's post re: this tag, I decided I'd join in on the fun! (Note: the original tag was created by ReadLikeWildfire and Earl Grey Books; it has since gone through several variations!) I always find myself wanting to go all out for the mid-year book freak out tag, but I kind of always forget to actually do it. And then suddenly it's a new year. This year, I was determined! Out of pure luck, I remembered to do it. I'm very proud of myself.

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Tuesday Turns 10... the 10 Books I Cannot Live Without! (#95)
11:00 PMTop Ten Tuesday is 10 YEARS OLD? I'm shook. IT'S SO UNREAL TO ME. We're officially in the double digits, guys. How?! Jeez! Well, to celebrate a decade of TTT, I decided to celebrate some of my favourite books. Namely, the 10 novels I could not live without. (Any books from a series will be rounded up as the first book of said series.) What can I say? I'm dramatic. Also! Narrowing down my favourites, the ultimate ride or dies, was a lot harder than I expected.
Summer has never felt so strange. Thankful for escapism in the form of books! What's on everyone's TBR this summer? Mine is fairly simple. And odds are, I'll get to only a fraction of them because I just cannot stick to my own schedule. Oops!
Sometimes, we add things to our TBR but never get around to them. And then, suddenly, you look back, and you're like, "Why?" Because you've just... forgotten them. Alas, there's just so many books out there--and so little time! (Edit: Black Lives Matter. Just so we're clear.)
Despite 2020 constantly giving us a few dozen speed bumps, I'm hopeful that things will start to look up soon! (Here's to hoping we aren't far off on finding, and testing, a vaccine. I still can't believe we are living in these uncertain times. A literal pandemic.) Even if they don't, I'm grateful for the fact that we are able to seek escape in various forms of entertainment.
While we may not be able to go on as usual this summer, there are plenty of books to keep us company! And here are the books that I picked for this week. Some of these may not give off full-blown summer vibes for everyone. For me, I either read them in the summertime or they give me that summery feeling.

I'm back! I needed a little break from posting for a while, but hello, I missed you guys, and it is time for TTT! (Going with a topic that I missed from earlier this month instead of today's prompt.) Welcome, welcome... to the DNF pile! I've only just started to bring myself to the point where I'll willingly DNF a book if I can't get into it. And, honestly, it's taken me a long time to get here. I don't do it as much as I should, but, here we are.
*I'm only listing 8 books.
Yes! I'm doing last week's prompt (Books I Wish I Had Read As a Child) because I was taking a break from blogging and because I loved it/regret not doing it. Also, because I couldn't think of anything for this week's topic. So, here we are!
Hope quarantine is going well for you guys--things are going to begin reopening around here over the next couple of weeks, against all advice, which, frankly, scares the shit out of me but also doesn't surprise me given how idiotic the people running the
When something combines my two great loves into one topic!! We have decided to stan this weeks topic for ever. For real, though, the world may be in a massive dumpster fire mode, but at least Top Ten Tuesday is here to bring us a little joy. And I'm always down for a little creativity.
Look! It's a miracle! I didn't change this weeks topic! (Well, not really.) As we continue to stay at home and self quarantine to prevent the spread of COVID-19, things have the tendency to look bleak or scary. To combat these feelings, it's always a good idea to stay connected and share with each other the things that we love.
Which is why I wanted to discuss some of the books series that I really enjoyed--but, for some reason, rarely talk about.

What's that? No, of course not. That's not me changing the topic for TTT again. (I'm the worst, I KNOW.) Books I Bought/Borrowed Because was not sparking much for me that I haven't fairly recently discussed, so I'm just going to tackle the topic of upcoming releases that I'm keen on reading!
Let's hope I have some free time to respond to comments--I've gotten SO behind, again. I just wanted to say, too, that I've been reading your comments and creeping on everyone's recent TTT posts but I haven't had enough time to get super chatty! I hope you all are doing well with the current state of, well, everything, and I'm sending you all my love. Don't hesitate to reach out to me on Instagram, Twitter or through email if you need absolutely anything in these weird and scary times.

This weeks topic was actually Ten Signs You’re a Book Lover--but I couldn't think of any answers beyond BECAUSE. Which, you know, is 100% valid and eloquent. Truly. And, instead, I wanted to focus on books that have made me happy this year so far. It seemed appropriate, given where we all are presently in the pandemic.
Is everyone else finding that the days are blurring together lately? Aside from the constant anxiety and silence, how are you all faring? I know it's a tough time, and if you need anything, I'm always here to talk. Whether you're working, stuck at home, or suffering financially and physically from this outbreak--I'm here and I'm rooting for you.

Scribd is Free for the Next Month! | 30 Great Audiobooks and eBooks to Check Out
7:00 AM
Last week, in the midst of nearly everything temporarily shutting down due to coronavirus, Scribd announced that it'd be making its entire catalogue (which includes a variety of books, audiobooks and magazines) free for the next month (no credit card or commitment required: click here to take advantage of this offer) to combat boredom during social distancing.
And as Scribd is one of my favourite bookish apps, I figured now was as good a time as any to share some recommendations.

For today's genre freebie, I couldn't think of just one genre that I wanted to cover. Instead, I decided to just talk about my favourite YA trilogies of all time. Which is a topic I've been wanting to explore, anyways! And, of course, in these uncertain times... it's always good to look back on favourites and embrace bright-spots whilst we cannot embrace each other.
I hope you are all staying safe during this pandemic. We're officially under a stay-at-home order out here and the world is unbelievably silent outside my window. I'm working from home and trying to do all the heavy lifting for friends and family who cannot re: heading out to the stores for essentials.

It's time to spring things up a bit. My Spring 2020 TBR was already posted via this post. I'm feeling decidedly un-creative and decided to narrow that list down to ten books I'm looking forward to reading this spring!
