It's hard to believe we are nearly through with the second month of 2018.

There's something blurry about life. Sometimes, the older that you get, you can't help but to feel like time is passing way too quickly. Then, there's the days where time trickles by so slowly and you just want, want, want a specific date to come around. In the case of any literature lover, those days we're prone to counting down for are upcoming release dates for books we're itching to read.

2018 is shaping up to be yet another brilliant year of publications. My wallet is already glaring at me in distress. We all have our eyes on specific titles--these are my most anticipated release of 2018 so far. I'm going to narrow it down to the books that will be released up until the summer-time, just so I don't overdo it!

Enough chit-chat. Let's get to the book part. 

Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson | Rating: ★★★★★

Where to begin, where to begin, about Truly Devious? I was not certain on what to expect with Maureen Johnson's latest offering. I truly enjoy her work, so it was definitely on my list from the time it was announced. Truly Devious has a premise that is intriguing, albeit a little generic, and naturally I was 100% here for it. What do you get when you mix a murder-mystery up a bit and sprinkle in the setting of boarding school? Jessica's idea of a good time, that's what.

There's a little something for every-one in terms of the mixing of the genres and honestly, the results are great! When I picked up Truly Devious, I had no idea that it was set to be the first installment of a new series but I can honestly say I am so relieved that it is because boy, did it hook me! Fans of Sherlock and of Brittany Cavallaro's Charlotte Holmes series will certainly find themselves compelled to read this book. There's something startlingly similar (yet entirely its own) about the atmosphere found in this book and I genuinely dig it.

Zenith (The Androma Saga, #1) by Sasha Alsberg and Lindsay Cummings | ★★★☆☆ (3.5)

The first thing you must know about Zenith is that it's fun. Pure, simple, fast paced fun--with fantastic characters and a whole lot of action. The second thing you must know, is a fact that lay in the blueprints of the beginnings of the series--Sasha Alsberg and Lindsay Cummings are a dynamic duo both on and off page.

Between the two, when story meets paper, Zenith is as unstoppable as any devoted reader could hope. It is every bits as spellbinding as any sci-fi enthusiast could hope. Both the authors and the characters found in the book command your attention instantly. In short, Zenith is the sort of novel that will keep readers on the edge of their seat in suspense and promise.

Readers who hope to find the perfect combination of angst, intrigue and an out-of-this-world cast of characters, will be satisfied with the roller coaster Zenith takes them on. In terms of science fiction, it is not easy to come by one that is wholly satisfying but Alsberg and Cummings take the genre and make something entirely their own. While there was the occasional miss and pages that felt to drag on, it was still a fun experience to flip through its pages and get lost in the spaces between.
