Top Ten Tuesday: What Books Would Be Called on Wish (#55)

11:07 PM

This weeks topic was Books I’ve Read That I’d Like In My Personal Library but for some reason, I was binge watching Wish Hauls on Youtube and found myself thinking: "What would certain books be called on Wish?" and once you go down that slope, there's really no going back. You're all in.

Sunday Post #5: The One with Dreamy Music and A LOT of Book Mail

4:55 PM

Another week where I actually did pretty decently with churning out new content for the blog (I am PROUD but have to wonder when I will slip out of this little groove), watched way too many ghost hunting/paranormal shows, changed my Instagram theme/editing style and have been listening to Taylor Swift non-stop.

Jane Cobalt Takes the Spotlight and MY WHOLE HEART | Review: Tangled Like Us by Krista & Becca Ritchie

7:45 PM

There are some traditions in my life that I will always honor: two cups of coffee before existing, putting Christmas decorations up the day after Thanksgiving, rereading Harry Potter in the autumn, watching Doctor Who Christmas specials on Christmas Day with my dad, wax poetic about Rent in front of complete strangers and duck behind trash cans when spotting people from high school.

The most important tradition, however, is buying every single book that Krista and Becca Ritchie release. And then babbling incoherently about it online. In the words of Jane Cobalt, "It seems we are dreadfully tangled, you and I."

20 Must Read Standalones

1:55 PM

The other night I was thinking about my posting habits through the years. When I started Booked J, I primarily focused on standalone books rather than series. I mean, I definitely posted both but the preference was fairly obvious. Somewhere along the way, this switched! I began reading more series than standalones--which obviously isn't a bad thing.

Guest Post: Children's Illustrator Samantha Holm on the Importance of Art in Storytelling and What Inspires Her Artistically

12:30 AM

Last December, I found myself in a bit of a slump for content. Especially after a good majority of my posts from Tumblr are now gone. And I knew that getting close to twelve years in this community, I needed something to revive my creativity. At the same time, the idea in my grasp was brewing for nearly three years—I wanted to spotlight my friends.

During this time, I knew wanted to give a platform to various people in my life who, I feel, have a great deal to share with my audience. Open up a bit of discussion via a series of guest posts and explore new ideas. That's what our community is about—embracing others creative outlets, careers and hobbies.

Look beyond, and within, the literary world bit by bit.
