Book Blogger Hop: How Do You Choose the Next Book to Read? (#1)
5:39 PM
This is my first time joining in on the fun with the Book Blogger Hop tag, but I couldn't resist any longer! Also, I noticed that it was relaunched on my birthday back in 2013 so that was a double take moment of intrigue for me, personally!
Okay, okay, I am SO excited to be joining in on this week's prompt. I know that I've already posted quite a bit today but, hear me out! I've been poking around on more bookish tags lately, and may or may not be addicted to them, hoping to join in on something new and this one caught my eye for various reasons.
When I noticed this week's topic I was like, okay, yes. YES. There's this sense of fate because I was honestly considering a similar topic choice for a standard blog entry, anyways. Obviously this feels like a sign; the perfect place for me to start in on Book Blogger Hop.
Because I love rambling, I love books and I love decision making, it's only natural that I like this topic. And, okay, fine, the whole bit about decision making isn't necessarily true because I'm highly indecisive.
But! It still feels like a great topic to explore. So, here we are. The new Taylor Swift record is playing (I love the whole thing but I think Afterglow, Cruel Summer and Daylight are my favourites) and my coffee mug is officially empty (second cup is donezo, kids!), so my energy is on high.
You know what that means: it's time to chat!
My 'decision making skills' are pretty simple and divided into two categories.
I prioritize what ARCs I have on the shelves above all else to get their reviews posted before they are out in the wild. This doesn't necessarily mean that I binge them all before getting to my back-list or anything else but if the publication date is coming up or if I'm a tour host I do tend to reach for those titles first.
If there is still a while before its release date or any tour stops, I tend to wait until a little more time has passed unless they are really calling my name. I have approximately 0% self control when it comes to things calling my name so it's safe to say that in a past life I probably was lured to the sea by a siren and poof, onto the next life.
I'm mostly a big fan of just randomly, on the spot, deciding, I WANT TO DO THE THING. (Well, I mean, in this case, read the book.) I'll look at my shelves or my TBR on Goodreads and then decide on a whim which one I think might work in the moment. It's how I make life decisions which is a bit questionable but hey it's fine I got this, right?
(RIGHT?)
Normally I'm more of a "do as I say, not as I do" person because I do think fairly logically. I just don't always apply that to myself because *mumbled reasoning* and all that jazz.
A lot of my favourite books were read on a whim and honestly? It's worth it. Mostly.
The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books
in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer's
permission, Billy at Ramblings of a Coffee Addict Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013.
Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday.
There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The
hop's purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn
about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to
your own blog.
This Weeks Topic:

The Priorities:
Books That Were Provided for Reviews or Blog Tours
I tend to focus on what I want to have out there on my blog in the next few weeks, first: I prioritize what ARCs I have on the shelves above all else to get their reviews posted before they are out in the wild. This doesn't necessarily mean that I binge them all before getting to my back-list or anything else but if the publication date is coming up or if I'm a tour host I do tend to reach for those titles first.

Winging It:
Books That I Point At and Decide Randomly
Whether I found them on my own or the internet made me do it, sometimes I just spontaneously pick something new: I'm mostly a big fan of just randomly, on the spot, deciding, I WANT TO DO THE THING. (Well, I mean, in this case, read the book.) I'll look at my shelves or my TBR on Goodreads and then decide on a whim which one I think might work in the moment. It's how I make life decisions which is a bit questionable but hey it's fine I got this, right?
