Blog Tour + Review: Apprentice Needed (Wizard for Hire, #2) by Obert Skye

7:30 AM

Get ready for some fun! Wizard for Hire returns for a second installment!

ABOUT

More than ever, Ozzy could really use the services of Rin, the wizard he hired to help find his parents — but Rin is missing, despite Ozzy’s continual attempts to contact him. And Clark, the mechanical bird his father left him, is as peculiar and vain as ever.

When a mysterious package arrives, Ozzy and his good friend Sigi are sure that the plane ticket and thumb drive they find inside are from Rin. Trying to get Clark through security at the airport proves complicated — as most things are with Clark. But when they arrive in New York, they discover there’s even more adventure in store for them.

Will Rin return and save the day? Will Ozzy figure out why he keeps walking into the ocean? Can Sigi find a way to trust her delinquent father? Will someone please appreciate Clark the way he’d like to be appreciated? For once?

Wizard for Hire: Apprentice Needed by Obert Skye
Rating: ★★★★★

As always, a copy of this book was provided by the publisher in exchange for my participation in the blog tour/my honest review. This does not effect my opinion in any way.

This series is the most fun I've had in ages. Wizard for Hire is exactly the kind of book series that I'd have read a kid, and I easily fall into it now as an adult. Apprentice Needed had a lot it had to live up to when comparing to the first installment--and it exceeds all expectations. Fast paced, witty, full of heart and mystery, it is one of the best ongoing MG series.

What more could you want from a fantasy? You've got: strong characters, greatly paced plotlines and formidable villains. And, I cannot stress how beautifully crafted Obert Skye's stories feel. Apprentice Needed has that spark of life and magic necessary for survival in the world of fiction.

Skye's prose is darker than expected and highly atmospheric; the perfect style for any and all things magic. Apprentice Needed showcases this writing in a way that makes it impossible to put down--this is a novel that will consume you, no matter your age.

It's an adventure you won't soon forget!

There's been a lot of character development when you look back on Wizard for Hire and then finish Apprentice Needed. And it's a real treat to witness it. In so many ways, you, too, grow with Ozzy. I am really keen on how the story is growing as well--Skye's writing is as seamless and fun as always, but the story has grown in a way that makes it truly take on a life of its own.

If you're looking for a fantasy that has soul, humor and is packed with emotion, this series is a must read. Frankly, it's a must-read in general and I'm so excited to have read it. It's definitely earned a spot of display on my shelves.
